The Astro Explorer Care Chair is a versatile seating solution designed with the utmost care for residents in care homes. Similar to the Shuttle Shell Chair, the Astro Explorer provides a comfortable seating experience but with enhanced features. It boasts larger braked wheels for improved manoeuvrability, allowing limited patio or garden access, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The pram-like braking system allows you to lock the rear wheels with your foot, ensuring safety and stability.

The tilt-in-space design of the Astro Explorer allows for adjustments to the seating position without significantly altering the angle between the backrest and seat. This feature enhances comfort, support, and pressure distribution, catering to individual needs. A generously padded seat cushion, armrests, and adjustable headrest create a comfortable seating environment, while the contoured shell upholstery helps distribute pressure evenly, increasing comfort during extended use.

The independently adjustable leg rest offers a wider range of seating positions, accommodating leg contractures and optimising comfort levels. The adjustable footplate, which comes as standard, is essential for appropriate foot support and the prevention of foot drop or plantar flexion. The footplate is spring-loaded for extra comfort and to aid transferring out of the chair.

The versatile seat cushion is a high-risk pressure relief cushion and is removable for cleaning. The cover is completely removable and replaceable, ensuring hygiene and longevity. The chair's vapour-permeable covers are also removable, meaning that the chair can be completely re-covered without having to be fully replaced. A supportive, elasticated contoured headrest is supplied as standard and is height adjustable to suit various people.

The Astro Explorer Care Chair comes equipped with footplate support, a safety belt as standard, tilt-in-space with a separate elevating leg rest, and removable and replaceable upholstery covers. It is available in Small, Medium, and Large sizes, with a weight capacity of 120kg (18.8st) for each size. The chair's dimensions include an outside width of 72cm, a length from back handle to front of footplate of 126cm, and a total height ranging from 126cm to 134cm, depending on the level of tilt.
