The MP5 Nocturnal Epileptic Convulsion Seizure Monitor is designed to help monitor people who experience tonic-clonic (grand mal) seizures during sleep. A discreet sensor is placed beneath the mattress, where it detects the characteristic movements associated with a convulsive seizure. If seizure activity is detected, a wirelessly connected pager immediately alerts carers, allowing a faster response while enabling the user to sleep more independently.

For added reassurance, the sensor also incorporates a built-in microphone that can detect the groaning sounds that often precede a seizure. The system includes two pagers, each offering an audible alarm, vibration alert and flashing light notification, making them suitable for different care environments and user preferences. With a wireless operating range of up to 100 metres, the monitor is well suited to use in homes, care homes and clinical settings. Please note that the monitor is designed to detect tonic-clonic (grand mal) seizures only and will not detect partial seizures or seizures that do not involve significant movement.

The system includes a 2-metre connecting lead between the monitor and sensor, and is supplied ready to use with two AA batteries.
