The Darco OrthoWedge is a specialist off-loading shoe designed to reduce pressure on the forefoot following surgery, trauma or when wounds and ulcerations are present under the toes or metatarsal heads. By encouraging weight transfer away from the forefoot, it helps promote improved healing while still allowing the user to remain mobile.

Its patented 15° wedge sole design shifts body weight naturally towards the mid-foot and heel, significantly reducing pressure on sensitive areas of the forefoot. Clinical testing has shown forefoot pressure reductions of up to 57%, helping protect surgical sites, wounds or ulcerations during recovery.

The square toe design acts as a protective bumper to help prevent accidental knocks and also provides extra room when dressings or K-wires are present. A secure ankle strap helps keep the foot firmly positioned in the shoe, reducing heel slippage and limiting friction that could irritate the skin.

A removable forefoot closure provides a secure fit without the discomfort of buckles pressing on sensitive areas. The padded insole offers twice the cushioning of many standard insoles and can be modified for a customised fit. It can also be completely removed to allow use with the Darco Peg Assist Insole (sold separately) for targeted wound off-loading.

The high-traction outsole includes an aggressive tread under the mid-foot to improve grip and stability while walking. Suitable for use on either the left or right foot, the Darco OrthoWedge is designed to support safe mobility while protecting vulnerable areas of the foot during recovery.
