A simple folding mechanism, half-folding backrest, and removable footrests and armrests make the XS compact and practical for travel or storage. The padded desk-style armrests allow close access to tables and work surfaces, while also providing additional comfort. Both the armrests and swing-away footrests can be moved aside to make side transfers easier and safer.

For comfort, the chair is fitted with deluxe seat and back cushions as well as a padded, tension-adjustable backrest for long-term support. Safety has also been built in, with dual brakes for attendants, foot-operated parking brakes, and reflectors for greater visibility outdoors. Rear stepper tubes with anti-tip wheels provide stability and make kerb climbing safer and easier.

The puncture-proof polyurethane tyres on the 32 cm (12.5") rear wheels are durable, low-maintenance, and designed to withstand daily use without the worry of flats.
