Product Details
The Resting Hand Burn Protection Orthosis is designed to maintain the hand, wrist and fingers in a functional resting position while accommodating bulky dressings, swelling and sensitive tissues. It is particularly suitable for burn patients, where maintaining proper positioning is important for protecting healing tissues and reducing the risk of contractures developing during recovery.
Manufactured from lightweight, durable Kydex® plastic, the orthosis can be heat moulded at low temperatures to provide a more customised fit when required. The shaped palmar section helps accommodate reduced muscle tone and spasticity while discouraging unwanted radial or ulnar deviation. A closed-cell foam liner repels fluids and resists bacterial growth, making it particularly suitable for managing weeping wounds and burn-related rehabilitation.
Finger separators help promote proper finger positioning and abduction, while adjustable straps accommodate bulky dressings and oedema. Child, Youth and X Small sizes are supplied without finger separators. Available in a wide range of sizes, the orthosis can be used for burn management, post-surgical rehabilitation, contracture prevention and a variety of neurological and musculoskeletal conditions.
