The SmartCare Lever Shower is designed to transform showering into a more comfortable and less stressful experience for those living with dementia, visual impairments, or limited dexterity. This electric shower is equipped with a 2m anti-kink smooth hose, a 1m riser rail, and an easy adjust shower head, catering to a variety of clinical needs. With a 5-year warranty as standard, it offers peace of mind and reliability.
Featuring an easy-to-use lever handle with a contrasting mid-grey, soft-touch insert, this shower is ideal for individuals with limited dexterity. The audible temperature control beeps and reactive digital LED temperature display make it easier for those with visual impairments to select their desired settings. Additionally, the contrasting tactile letters, power symbol, and pointer on the lever, along with raised dot markers at the lowest and hottest temperature settings, further assist users with visual challenges.
The central control panel boasts a matt, anti-glare finish, which is beneficial for people with visual impairments and dementia. Rounded surfaces and edges are incorporated to reduce the risk of injury in the event of a trip or fall. The AKW SmartCare Lever is BEAB Care certified, RNIB tried and tested, and accredited as a dementia-friendly product by DSDC, ensuring it meets high standards of safety and usability.
With thermostatically stabilised temperature control and a maximum water temperature protection feature, the shower unit is safeguarded against overheating. The eco setting, which limits the flow rate to 6 litres per minute, supports the reduction of water and energy consumption. This is the default setting but can be overridden during installation. An automatic shutdown feature, with options for 5, 10, 20, or 30 minutes, prevents flooding and minimises water and energy wastage.
The phased shutdown ensures a safe and reliable start-up and performance, while patented safety features provide additional security. For added convenience, an optional wall-mounted remote on/off button is available separately, allowing users or carers to control the shower from up to 10m away. The AKW SmartCare Lever is a practical and considerate choice for enhancing the showering experience of elderly or disabled individuals.
