The Swissvoice S515-C Smartphone is designed specifically to make modern mobile technology more accessible for older people. Rather than expecting the user to navigate complicated menus, small icons and constant swiping, it offers a choice of simplified or very simplified menus, large characters and straightforward touch controls. The 5" colour touchscreen requires a deliberate press and offers four adjustable touch-duration settings, which can be particularly helpful for people with reduced dexterity or those who are less familiar with smartphones.

Everyday communication is kept simple. Three photo speed-dial contacts allow favourite people to be called quickly, while dedicated WhatsApp controls provide easy access to text and voice messages, voice calls and video calls. Received text messages can be read aloud and replies can be dictated, helping users who find typing on a touchscreen difficult. Despite its simplified interface, the S515-C retains useful smartphone features including 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC phone payments and a pre-installed YouTube application.

The phone is also well suited to elderly users with reduced hearing or vision. Its ringer reaches up to 85dB, large characters make information easier to see and voice dialling provides another way to make calls. M4/T4 hearing aid compatibility helps hearing aid users communicate more clearly.

Charging has also been designed with ease of use in mind. Instead of having to connect a small charging cable each time, the phone can simply be placed into the supplied charging cradle. A lanyard is included so it can be kept close at hand around the home, and the design allows the phone to be charged without first removing the strap.

For additional reassurance, an SOS button on the back can contact a chosen helper and send a text containing the user's GPS location, as well as sending alerts to additional nominated contacts. An optional weatherproof Bluetooth SOS bracelet can provide access to the emergency function from up to 10 metres away and can even be worn in the shower.

Supplied unlocked for use with a compatible network of your choice, the Swissvoice S515-C uses a nano SIM and supports microSD cards for additional storage.
