The Optimise Firm Edge Mattress is a pressure redistributing, high-specification foam support surface designed for individuals at high risk of developing pressure ulcers, or for those with existing pressure damage. It’s also an excellent choice for people with limited mobility, who may struggle with safe bed transfers or are at increased risk of rolling out of bed.

At the heart of the mattress is a dual-layered castellated foam core. This inner section features softer, high-density castellated foam that conforms to the shape of the body. The castellations (small square-shaped cuts in the foam) work to increase surface contact, allowing for better weight distribution and significantly reducing pressure on vulnerable areas like the heels, sacrum, and shoulders. Additionally, this design helps to minimise shear and friction, which are major contributors to skin breakdown and discomfort.

What sets this mattress apart is its reinforced firm edge support. Along both sides of the mattress, extra firm foam has been integrated to create a more stable edge. This makes it easier and safer for users to sit or reposition themselves near the edge, and assists carers when helping with transfers in and out of bed.
