The high-specification foam core works to evenly distribute body weight and reduce peak pressure points, helping to maintain skin integrity and enhance user comfort during extended periods of rest. Integrated block foam side formers reinforce the mattress edges, providing enhanced stability for safer transfers and consistent support right up to the sides — reducing the risk of roll-off and deformation over time.

The mattress is encased in a PU multi-stretch, water-resistant, and vapour-permeable cover that allows the surface to move with the user, minimising shear and friction while promoting airflow and breathability. Its welded seams ensure robust infection control and long-term durability, while a 270° zip with a protective flap allows for quick inspection or cover removal.

The top cover features a white inner substrate, helping carers easily identify any signs of wear, strike-through, or fluid ingress — a key safety feature in clinical environments. The Permaflex HSF is fire retardant to Crib 5 standards, X-ray translucent, and can be machine washed at up to 95°C, making it exceptionally practical and hygienic for demanding healthcare use.
