The Alerta Mobile Alternating Air Pressure Cushion is a pressure-relieving cushion system designed to help prevent and treat pressure ulcers in people at high risk. It is suitable for use in hospitals, care homes, or home settings.
This cushion system uses an alternating air flow to reduce pressure on vulnerable areas of the body. A built-in sealed foam base provides extra support and stability during use.
What makes this system different is its battery-powered control unit, which allows the cushion to be used even when mains power is not available. In static mode, the battery can last for over 24 hours. In alternating mode, it provides at least a full day of operation, giving users more flexibility and carers more options for positioning and movement without interruption.
The air cells are TPU-coated and individually removable, making the cushion easier to clean and maintain. The multi-stretch PU cover is designed to reduce friction and shear while being water-resistant, vapour-permeable, and antimicrobial. It is also machine washable to support good hygiene.
Additional features include a 360° zip for easy access to internal components, robust pump connection with hanging brackets, and a transport mode to keep the cushion inflated temporarily when disconnected from power.
The system also includes visual and audible alarms to notify carers of low pressure or power issues, helping to ensure consistent performance and user safety.
