The Amplicomms BigTel 1582 Phone is designed to make telephone calls more accessible for people with hearing loss, reduced vision or limited dexterity. Supplied with two cordless handsets, the second handset only requires a power point and connects wirelessly to the main base, so there is no need for a second telephone socket.

For users who have difficulty hearing calls clearly, the handset volume can be boosted by up to 35dB using a dedicated one-touch button. The ringer can reach up to 90dB, helping make incoming calls easier to notice, while hearing aid compatibility supports clearer conversations for hearing aid users. A call indicator LED provides an additional visual notification.

Large, easy-to-read buttons and a clear backlit display make dialling and navigating the phone more manageable for people with impaired vision or reduced hand control. Frequently used contacts can be stored for convenient access, while the hands-free speakerphone provides an alternative to holding the handset during longer conversations.

A call blocking function can store up to 100 unwanted numbers, helping reduce nuisance and unwanted calls. The built-in answering machine records messages when calls cannot be answered, while Caller ID allows compatible telephone services to display who is calling.

The cordless design provides up to 50 metres of indoor range and 300 metres outdoors, with up to 10 hours of talk time from each handset. The main base can be connected to a traditional telephone socket or a compatible router or hub, making the system suitable for the digital telephone changeover.
